Based on the classic 1912 novel by Jean Webster, Daddy Long Legs is an intimate, sweeping chamber musical that unfolds through a decades-long exchange of letters. Jerusha Abbott is a witty, fiercely intelligent orphan
whose sharp mind catches the attention of a mysterious, wealthy benefactor. He offers to fund her college education under two strict conditions: she must never know his true identity, and she must write him a letter once a month updating him on her progress. Jerusha nicknames her elusive guardian “Daddy Long Legs,” unaware that he is actually Jervis Pendleton, a sophisticated young man who is gradually falling in love with her through her own words. Featuring an exquisite, acoustic-driven score, this beautifully romantic piece explores the awakening of an independent woman’s voice and the unexpected paths that lead us to love.
