The Cornley University Drama Society’s members are attempting to put on a classic, 1920s murder mystery, The Murder at Haversham Manor, but to say the production faces a few technical difficulties would be a massive understatement. In this Olivier Award-winning comedy masterpiece, everything that can collapse, catch fire, be forgotten, or be completely mispronounced does so with spectacular, high-octane precision. As the actors desperately struggle to keep the show on the tracks despite falling sets, missing props, and an unconscious leading lady, the result is an escalating avalanche of physical comedy and impeccable timing. A brilliant love letter to the theater, The Play That Goes Wrong is a chaotic, laugh-out-loud celebration of the sheer, stubborn will to ensure that the show must go on.
